New Subway Line F Planned for Buenos Aires

It is expected that the construction of a 5-kilometer stretch connecting Barracas with the Callao station of line D in Balvanera will be tendered, an area with high potential demand according to the studies conducted. The total investment for this extension is estimated at 1.850 billion dollars, and it is expected to be able to accommodate 14 operational trains.

The new subway line, called line F, will begin construction next year. This line will connect Barracas with Palermo, with a total of 11 stations distributed along a 9-kilometer route and 8 connections at different points in the City. The importance of line F lies in its key role in improving north-south travel connectivity in the City, alleviating congestion on Line C and promoting the use of other subway lines.

Line F will have interconnections with all subway lines except line H, as well as with the Roca Railway. It will cross the neighborhoods of Barracas, Constitución, San Cristóbal, Monserrat, San Nicolás, Recoleta, and Palermo. This new line is projected to transport more than 300 thousand passengers daily and will feature cutting-edge technology in both its signaling system and its brand new trains equipped with air conditioning.

The line F project also includes the construction of a maintenance facility and workshop above ground for both light and heavy maintenance on the line. The construction will be carried out in two phases, with the first phase consisting of six stations: Brandsen, Constitución, Cochabamba, Chile, Congreso, and Tucumán. This first phase is estimated to require an investment of approximately 1.050 billion dollars, including the rolling stock needed for its operation.
